How does Pocketnote work?

Pocketnote is simple - create an account in a matter of seconds! Once your account is created with all required information, you'll be able to message tutors and request sessions. Once the tutor has approved your session request, all you need to do is show up! Payment will be automatically processed at the end of the session via Stripe.

Are sessions online or in-person?

That's up to you! Many of our tutors offer both online and in-person, so you can decide what works best for you or try both to see which you prefer.

How does payment work?
Payment is processed automatically via Stripe at the conclusion of your session. Stripe is a secure, professional and globally-recognised payment provider which facilitates seamless, secure and compliant transactions. Stripe is our chosen payment provider to ensure your financial data is handled with industry-leading security standards.
I've created my account, but I can't message tutors or request sessions. Why?

If you have not uploaded your payment details, you will not have access to messages or session requests. Payment details are required to access these features, but you will not be charged until you complete an approved session.

Do you store my credit card details?

No, we do not store your payment information within our platform. Your payment information is stored securely by Stripe, our trusted payment provider which adheres to strict security standards. To read more about how Stripe handles privacy and data,

Can I pay a tutor directly or give them cash?

No, this is a breach of our Terms and Conditions. If it is suspected that payment has been processed outside of the platform, we reserve the right to remove both parties immediately without warning. If you have any questions or concerns regarding payment, please contact us.

Do you have a screening or verification process for tutors?
Yes. Our screening process for tutors includes identity and Working With Children Check verification, as well as an assessment of their academic performance, work experience and general suitability to offer tutoring services on Pocketnote.
Do I need to pay any fees?
We want to keep it simple, so there is no subscription fee to use Pocketnote. A Booking Fee applies to each session - a breakdown of costs will appear when you request a session with a tutor, to ensure transparency.
Where do in-person sessions take place?
In-person sessions are conducted at the student's home or in a public place, such as a library or University Campus. In-person sessions should take place within view of, or under the supervision of, a parent/guardian or responsible adult, and should never be conducted at a tutor's home.
